We are right next to Lake Catherine & minutes away from Adventureworks Zipline, Garvan Gardens, Oaklawn Horse Racing & Casino, Hot Springs National Park, and much more. Ms. Carla’s Cottage lake adjacent property offers a true rural Arkansas getaway. When you book a stay here, you are choosing to step out of the city and directly into a thriving natural ecosystem. You will be sharing the surrounding woods with abundant wildlife, from grazing deer to soaring hawks, as well as smaller locals like woodland mice and a wide variety of insects. Because this is a laid-back, rural lake community, it is also common for neighbors to let their dogs wander off-leash. You might get an occasional visit from one of these neighborhood dogs. All the ones we have ever met are friendly and sweet, but we want our guests to be fully aware that this can happen. While we work tirelessly to keep the cottage exceptionally clean, comfortable, and maintained, the reality of living closely with nature means the outdoors occasionally wanders near or inside the home. We cherish this unfiltered connection to the woods and the lake community, but if the occasional presence of insects, wildlife, or a visiting neighborhood dog makes you uncomfortable, this peaceful country-style retreat is probably not the best fit for your trip. Also, please be aware that the cottage is not baby-proofed or specifically designed for small children. While families are certainly welcome, children will require extra care and attention to navigate the stairs and interact safely with the antique furnishings. There is a large kitchen, dining room, living room, 3 bedrooms, a laundry room, 2 bathrooms and a screened in back porch. The living room has a wooden chess table and a plethora of board games as well as a quality queensize fold out couch bed that sits right in front of the HD flatscreen TV. It connects to our screened in back porch with lots of seating and it’s own TV so you can watch the game in the fresh air while the dog explores the fenced backyard and the kids enjoy the hot tub within eyesight. Right outside on our back deck we have a top of the line 6 person jetted hot tub spa. We provide ultra plush robes and towels. There is also a large grill so you can cook up your favorite barbecue. In the chef’s kitchen, natural textures meet high-end finishes. Prepare meals with ease and elegance on the gas range, enjoy long breakfasts or holiday feasts at the dining table, or bring your meal outside for fresh-air dining beneath the trees. Boating, fishing, and lake-loving families will love our retreat. You can take out one of our boats for a peaceful morning paddle looking for waterbirds or bring your own boat and launch it at the public boat ramp which is right next to our property. Each bedroom space has lots of extra throws and plenty of storage space. Each space is appointed with comfort and serenity in mind. High quality memory foam mattresses, curtains, plush linens, and a calm color palette create a gentle atmosphere perfect for unwinding. Every bedroom is equipped with its own HD flatscreen TV. There are 2 spacious full baths. The primary en suite is highlighted by a gorgeously restored antique clawfoot tub that is imbued with the spirit of its era. Whether you’re celebrating a special moment or simply seeking peace, it offers an experience that transcends an ordinary bath. There is also a large walk-in closet. Though this home feels secluded and timeless, you are only minutes from the region’s finest attractions: We are steps from Lake Catherine and very close to Adventureworks ziplining and adventure park. Oaklawn Casino, Garvan Gardens, the thermal baths of Bathhouse Row and the trails and vistas of Hot Springs National Park are less than 8 miles away as well as the best dining and shopping in the area. - The entire home is on a whole house generator, so even if the whole neighborhood loses power, you will not miss the British Baking Show on your vacation! 🙃 - The Boat ramp to launch onto Lake Catherine is right at the end of our street. Just take a right out of the driveway and you are there in less than a minute.

Accessibility and Availability
Neighborhood
This is a peaceful but rural Arkansas lake neighborhood. Our property and house is secluded on a forested plot right uphill from the lake. People in our area sometimes allow their dogs to roam free so please be aware that you may see one roaming on the property. If you are bringing your own boat you may be able to park your trailer on the upper left of the property in the grass in front of the work shed. The circle drive is tight and very hard to navigate with a trailer. Even though we are on the Ouachita River and Lake Catherine we are only 10 minutes from Oaklawn and 15 from downtown and bathhouse row.
Guest Access
Ms. Carla's lake adjacent property has great privacy as it is totally enclosed by beautiful hardwoods and pines. You have full private access to the front and back yards, the garage, and the entire house. The only off limits spaces are the small cleaners closet in the living room and the large workshed. If you take a right out of the driveway you are steps away from the neighborhood boat launch on Lake Catherine. You are welcome to bring your own boat and to use this for lake access whenever you like.

Even though we are steps from the Ouachita River and Lake Catherine we are only 10 minutes from Oaklawn and 15 from downtown and bathhouse row. It is a straight shot down. It is a straight shot down shady grove road and Malvern Avenue.
